How is a book with this premise so painfully slow?? It's been 30 pages of the same circular dialogue between characters that are hardly tolerable.

I LOVED Nocticadia and wanted more. I'm hoping this is another home run from Keri Lake. I need more lore-heavy, gothic romantasy. Don't get me wrong, I love a good smut, but I'm a sucker for dark atmosphere, angst, and a slow-build when it's woven like Nocticadia was.

My phone slipped out of my hands, clattering to the floor.

Ugh. This is literally the 7th time she's dropped her phone... And the 2nd time within 50 pages. Find a different cliche to announce her spying on people

“You are dreaming now. But soon, you will wake to the sound of crackling fire, and find you and your men tied to stakes. Your flesh will be seared. And your pain and misery will echo for eternity.”

A truly stellar opening chapter... I fear I'm hooked. Books gods, if you're real, please let this be my next obsession!

An annoying, entitled brat FMC and a bland MMC with a sob story. Trying so hard to finish this because it's so short

The alpha-to-be is written as a pathetic, skittish little thing who is called "fragile" multiple times by multiple people. How am I suppose to view him as this well of potential as an alpha -- or as a potential partner/stable member for the guys?

So difficult to read at this point. MMC is an arrogant asshole who I dislike more each time he talks. And magically they are in love now? Can't buy that they are ALWAYS horny for each other despite the literal torture, blackmail of the families, etc. I don't understand why this book is rated so high... Refusing to DNF out of spite, but boy do I want to DNF

The pacing is all over the place and it's getting more difficult to like the MMC. He's arrogant and self righteous. The villains don't feel real either - like they lack depth and motivation.. But I can't stop reading. Why can't I put this down? It's Stockholming me as much as Josh is

What am I reading? WHY am I reading it? The sheer creativity and absurdity of it all has me captive. I think this is Stockholm Syndrome.
