I made it to page 6 before I started crying ... this book is pure magic. I love Shirley Collins so much!

Crippled_ships is on page 65 of 286 of Tarot as a Way of Life: A Jungian Approach to the Tarot
Slow going... but I'm beginning to warm to this book a little more. It's still not as "Jungian" as I had hoped and expected, but Hamaker-Zondag seems to have genuinely good intentions and a desire to be helpful, and I can't bring myself to judge someone like that too harshly. I still feel that I'm wading through a bit of a mess, though. But there are more than 200 pages left, so things might still shape up...

By invoking Jung in the title of the book, a reader might come to it expecting a certain degree of meticulousness and lucidity... but so far this is the messiest exposition of the Tarot that I have come across! I have an ominous feeling that this book is going to be a chore to get through...

A year of reading up on the Tarot is drawing towards its end, but I've still got a handful of volumes to go... It's been an interesting ride, but I'm also looking forward to delve into the next topic (whatever that will turn out to be)...

I am becoming more and more convinced that this is one of the best books I have ever read. A rare gem of a book ♡ It is as if it has been tailor made to suit my tastes and sensibilities. I am very thankful towards mister Insole and Snuggly Books!

I am only three stories in, but I am already deeply in love with this book ♡ Reminiscent of Machen, and exquisitely crafted.

Slow going... but it could be worse! I mean, I could be like a bottle in the smoke, or someone could make me drink the wine of astonishment, right? Beware of the coal of juniper is all I'm saying... And for bog's sake, don't eat any owls (not even the small ones)!!

Peace out.

Since I just read "Fear" by Gabriel Chevallier, I thought I should read one from the opposite trench as well...

Uh, I actually started reading this thing last year; my "Jesus Year", when I turned 33, and wanted to see how well I was faring compared to my fellow tricenarian as far as derring-do and quotability went... Well, let's say I'm still wandering in the desert among conniving goat herders and what not, but it's indeed a fascinating read, and I'll hopefully be able to finish it at some point. Wish me luck!

Crippled_ships is starting A Mammal’s Notebook: The Writings of Erik Satie
I'm going through a period of light obsession with Erik Satie, so I thought I should finally read this book which I've been saving for a while. I've wanted to read his writings ever since I first heard about them through an interview with John Cage. I'm sure that his words will be as fascinating as his music.

I've been reading frightfully slow lately... Not enough time and not enough focus to go around... But I'm going to finish this book tonight, no matter what. It's a really lovely book, though, so spending a lot of time on it has not been unpleasant. Re-reading the short story where she writes about Pierre Schaffer gave me another wave of goosebumps, just like I knew it would... How I love this woman!

Crippled_ships is reading Meddelande
I read quite a lot, but few authors actually give me goosebumps (that is usually reserved for music)... I realize that Tove Jansson is definitely my favourite writer (sorry Jarry, sorry Lautréamont, sorry Burroughs, sorry Roussel). Reading her is always like coming home. If someone would make me chose between hugging Bowie and hugging Tove, I'd go for her (although Balance would steal it from both if he was there) <3
