I am enjoying this book, but I think reading it back-to-back with the first book was not a good idea! The beauty of this series is in the details, so it takes a little bit of effort to read carefully (given the format is a series of letters/journal entries/etc). I think I am missing out! Also, I have another book that needs to be returned to the library soon. Two birds, one scone, as they say. I'll be back!

Oops! I thought the Graphic Audio audiobook had come out already so I started listening to it, but it was just the regular audio... which I cannot do. The Graphic Audio version comes out June 2026, so I'll be back then!

I am DNFing. I read 357 of 658 pages, which is about 54%. I was hoping the second book would be more engaging than the first, but it was not. I've grown too bored and have decided to stop trying. A lot of the book seems focused on scenes that are inconsequential... Typically, these would, at best, be the perfect stage for character building, but none of the characters are very engaging or seem well thought through.

Not one mention that Keegan and Breen slept together??? So bizarre

Omg! They slept together?! There was no build up! No flirting! Nothing! Just constant hacking at each other with swords. Sigh.

Marco, the mysterious side character. What does he want? Nobody knows!

Hm... I'm not sure I'm going to keep reading this book or not. Nothing against the book itself or the author. It's well written, but I would probably classify this book under 'horror,' not fantasy. t's a book about bad things happening to bad people and it's bumming me out.
