I really like this

I wanted to read a book about motherhood but now I'm reading a book (again) about woke propaganda :( can someone please recommend a non-political contemporary book to me? I'm so sick of this pessimistic doom-worldview. If this type of thinking is coming from new mothers then maybe we are actually doomed.

dragging a bit,

this book captures the feeling of being a gullable 20-something year-old student very well. as someone who has dated older men before when i was in my 20s i can relate. reading about frances' experiences makes me feel uneasy. rooney's prose is beautiful and simple. i like it.

I like the way Rooney describes her characters, they seemed fleshed out and real.

I just want to read a contemporary book without victim mentality or woke political agenda. I get that there are hard things about being an immigrant child, trust me. But at which point in your life will you get over yourself, heal, and stop blaming every white person? I was more emotionally mature when I hit 15. Not every gesture is racist. Why do you want it to be racist so bad? Oh, yes. No responsibility is easier.

The way Maas describes relationship conflict is chef's kiss. I like Feyre more and more.

I don't want to be a hater but this is super unbelievable... 😭 And I'm not talking about the alien.

More technical and scientific than I thought, but it's easy enough to understand. Interesting plot

Why is this a good representation of trauma and abusive parents? Also, the dystopian world depicted in this book reminds me of where we're all headed 🤣 I also like how the author doesn't shy away from brutal descriptions of abuse. Not sure if this would still fly in 2026, but I'm here for it.
