book reads like an endless summing up of facts interwoven with a dissociative narrative....it's weird to put it mildly...

after putting it aside, I picked it up again! Flub. I know I know. Niven is one of the keystones of scifi but Ring world is truly made of Skrith!

Every time I think, well this is obsolete 'old-school' scifi, I get a scientific fix because of the physics involved in space travel. That never gets old!! #HardRadiation #FTLtravel. What is hilarious though is the aliens. They are definitely obsolete! Tentacles, two heads, space felines...in the 50ies it worked. Now I need alien life that is based on something other than carbon. Without heads, mouths or claws.
