There’s so much info dumping at the start of this book. Only my deep love for this author is keeping me going.

I just checked if this book is self-published and...yes, it is. This story needs some serious editing. I get that it’s epistolary, but it’s also work of fiction and needs to, you know, actually have a story arc.

‪I have unexpectedly found myself reading this book. The main character is Filipino and there’s a food scene that could be problematic. I’m not up to that yet. Starts as an epistolary. Cute, but I thought the heroine was a teen. Turns out she’s 23!

So much exposition. This series has lost almost all its subtlety.

If workplace microaggressions don’t bother you, you might even love this book. But I’m having trouble getting past them. And I don’t really believe the hero’s backstory — his wife died, so now he sleeps with any random hot woman? It’s all a bit cliched and not all that desirable imo. I’m this close to DNFing this one even though I REALLY want to see if it gets better.

There is so much telling in this book. Such a waste of first person POV. I find parts of the story unbelievable and I find the portrayal of Jasmine's relationship with her parents and her feelings about the Philippines very inconsistent.

I'm a bit confused as to what kind of book I'm reading. I love the gothic feel in the first chapter. And then it became like a woo-woo romance. And now there's a scene where the POV is not the hero or heroine. So confused. Intrigued, yes, but still confused.

This book is kinda OTT and trope-heavy but I won't lie. I'm a bit charmed:

“Jesus. You’re so damn tight.”

“Have you ever thought maybe you’re too damn big?” I retort, trying to adjust to his size.

I'm not sure how anything else in this book can possibly surpass the snobby cock:

'This blonde had been giving me the eye all night and I had planned on taking her back to my place for a nice hard fuck, but my cock doesn’t seem to be cooperating.

'The fucker has been too damn selective recently. Fucking snob.'

AMAZE.

This book was actually good until the hero showed up (in the present day). What an arsehole.

I mean, I've read all the dirty bits. Not sure I can be bothered reading it properly. Normally I love a reverse harem but the hero is a bit of a douchebag.

I'm struggling to get through this book. I think it's the POV. It's just not deep enough for first person, and the characters sound the same most of the time.

I was somewhat bored with this story (but curious enough to keep going). And then tears happened.

He hero finally has her in his apartment and he ... starts boiling water for tea. I AM DEAD.

'I manage to take a breath and out slow, sexy slide is cut into a series of broken-up kisses, like gentle bites. He's testing, and there's a shyness there too. It feels like I'm being told a secret.'

'I compose a reply. It is an emoticon of a smiling poo. It sums everything up.'

I thought this was set in Australia, but the characters are using Farenheit...
