This book is definitely part of the hot mess express genre I’m obsessed with like Luster. The stories are nothing alike but they have vague similarities and the overall vibes are the same despite the time differences and circumstances of the MC.

Oof I’m so glad I’ve healed significantly from all the anti-fat abuse I’ve experienced because idk if I could finish this book if I hadn’t. I feel so bad for Ellie. She’s so young and I remember what it was like for my skinny mom to make comments about my weight.

Okay I gotta stop for the night/early morning because I feel like I listened to a whole chapter and didn’t absorb anything. This has nothing to do with the author. I’m just tired and dissociating.

Damn. I’m only 10 minutes in and I desperately wish my parents had read this book or literally any parenting book

YA books that mention a mystery in the synopsis but don’t really deliver on it mess with my expectations.

I don’t like the writing style that much honestly. I’m gonna try to get at least 25% in and see how I feel then decide if I’m gonna DNF or not

Including allies in the queer acronym is like including anti-racist white people in discussions of the black community. I just don’t get it. Being an ally isn’t the same as being a marginalized person.

Okay I already like this one better. I love hearing Danez Smith read their poetry.
