So intriguing. I admit I read the last story first because of the cancer connection. I like stories with a twist or that surprise me and he is almost always providing this for me.

Admittedly, I skipped ahead to read the last story first. Why? It's called Cancer Catechism. And it hit me. Yeah, you guessed it. Right where I fought off the Demon Cancer a few years ago.

Gaaaaah! Main character just got booted out of Svetlana's apartment. So culturally isolated. Lonely. A man wanted to go to the States so badly, he offered marriage as thy had dinner together. Sadness.....

I am enjoying the dialogues between the main character and her roommate. I picked up this book in the UW Bookstore because I have a friend who lives in Bosnia. I am learning much from her. I thought I might enjoy and learn from this book also.

I gave this book 5 stars (earned!) when I read it in 2008. I am re-reading it in the hopes to write a proper review, worthy of this novel.

I am confused by Wade & even more lost by the narrator/brother Rolfe. I am sad for Jack, but can relate to Lillian. I want happiness for these people more than you know. This book's characters remind me somewhat of those in The Burgess Boys. Powerful stuff here. Only halfway done.

Wow. Powerful character development. Excellent relationships that unfold through conflicts, both spoken and unspoken. I adore Uno. Danny breaks my heart. Sofe is awesome. I love the baseball descriptions inside the different neighborhoods.

I just started, but already the writing has an edginess to it that puts me in the setting with the main character, with my guard up. Just in case....

I am slow. I feel like I would read this better in relaxed, rural surroundings, in print. Right now this lovely piece falls by the wayside in favor of other, more immediate interests that I can zoom through on my iPad via iBooks or Kindle. I do wish to experience what others have, when I examine meaningful reviews.

Whaaaaa---- Just when I think I know what direction the plot will take based on character dialogue/choices, then another character pounces! Or a new piece of family evidence presents itself through a phone call. Collect! The descriptions of the defendant's mom & friends keep me guessing & all the while I steam about bullies. Must read further...

Kind of....creepy?? Lots of lengthy conversations between the mom & dad, but overall, an interesting mystery w/a sullen, unreadable teenager to really make you wonder....

Oh my. The young man is missing and I hate how they all treat Susan & Zach's dog. I'm sure the author hopes this poor creature to symbolize something, but this adds torrential & brutal pain to my heart. I wish Bob or Pam would take the dog. Their lives might be enriched? I do so enjoy the internal commentary at the social gatherings in this novel!

I really adore Katie, even though she also frustrates me. I just want her to LIVE, but j know she is burdened with proverbial Catholic Family Guilt, poor thing. It can be such a burden!!

Joe tries to hide his symptoms at work (they are worsening). The fam meets Felix. A baby is born. We learn more about HD tests. Patrick is fighting.
