Elle is insufferable, like girl, why are you holding a grudge like that, for such a little thing? It sounds convenient for the trope but she seems a little too angry over not so much. Especially when our guy is only being nice to her.

Enjoying it so far, however I’m having difficulty getting reading Phil, his character seems a little contradictory to me. We’re told he’s struggling with sex etc, but then when he’s talking to Maggie, it seems like he has this fantastic and eccentric sex life. Or maybe that’s on purpose ?

Rose, GIRL, for real?! I get it but also, wtf? Why do you refuse to tell anyone what happened and THEN, text the guy who is clearly being an asshole to you?? Like, the best revenge is just to ghost him like he ghosts you.

Zoe is the best part about this book so far.

The ball scene is giving Harry Potter 4, it’s hilarious. The whole book reminds me vaguely of HP, which I like. Although in some parts I find it a bit tedious to get through.

Lisant les avis très élogieux je me sens presque coupable de ne pas bien comprendre ce que tout le monde aime tant dans ce roman. Je trouve que Lily King veut traiter trop de sujets et fini par rester en surface d'un peu tout... mais il me reste 100 pages, on verra comment tout cela évolue.

J'oublie parfois que la YA peut être un peu simpliste dans ses intrigues...

Je le dévore. Je ne lis jamais ou très rarement de livres sur la Shoah parce qu’à chaque fois ça me fait sangloter comme rien d’autre, tout en faisant monter en moi une rage contre ces nazis et tous les fascistes qui leur ont succédé.

Sometimes there’s a book and your life and they collide and it feels like it was meant to find you at this exact moment in time. Like it was written somewhere that just as you were trying to untie yourself of a feeling for a person you read about someone, 10 years older, that goes through the same thing. Eleanor, I feel u.

The comments about how « motherly » women are and how men are « strong » and can show emotion and distress only when they’re with a women is a little annoying but, well, it’s an old book…

Lisa Maxwell is tittering on the edge of SJM’s cringy romance scenes and I am NOT here for that at all.
