my other note to myself is i do want to reread this at a later point in life where i am in the mood for character exploration. i intend to finish it now but i can tell i should dnf it and leave it for later because i can see when i would absolutely love it and it's not quite now.

loving the characters because they are so unlikeable i'm getting a huge kick out of it but it is being undermined by how slow i find the pace (and not in a good way, either)

i have a fairly high tolerance for basic pop references but this book is testing even me

the narration style is interesting but it is quickly becoming grating which is... a problem, considering how little i've read so far

i'm gonna need like, the coziest fantasy story after this

it's the way he's constantly going through it

unironically one of my favorite things to do is read posts in those goodreads' "year in books". love reading everything together, from goals people have to what they have read and how they rated it all put together.
