The lightbulb finally came on ... now I get it. This writer only writes 'The Devil Wears Prada' fanfic. This is the second book by Milena McKay that I have read and they are both from the 'ice queen' trope with references to Miranda Priestly. I am not a fan of that movie or these books so far.

I just looked at the 'Goodreads Choice Awards' under the Romance section and we are completely unrepresented again this year. I had to write-in my choice at the bottom of the page. I'm really not liking this book so far. I especially don't like Peyton or Brooke. They are both very selfish. Also, Peyton's crushing on her wife's great-aunt is a little creepy.

Moving on to other books for a while.

I am at 12% NOT on page 12 and I don't know why this is rated so high. So far, this book has been very boring and very british. Not sure if I'll finish it.

Ah Ha! Thank you 'agirlcandream' and 'C. Mack' for your reviews. My education continues. I had never heard of a 'Non-binary' person. I almost quite reading this book thinking there were just too many mistakes. I think I would have missed out on a treat. :)

This book is confusing me. How many people does Luce represent and are they male or female?
Example: * "That would give Luce a laugh when they woke up."
* "Blowing their bangs out of their eyes, Luce shrugged."
* "They were the most honest person Hayden knew. Some might say tactless, but once you got to know them, you realized it was a love for a lack of bullshit."
Luce is continually referred to as 'they' or 'them'.

I should just abandon this book. It's not my kind of book at all. I'm having trouble forcing myself to continue.

Hilarious error: Lexi laughed and sugar head. “I hope you like seafood. I never asked, I just assumed.” This book is poorly proofed and edited.

WHAT!???

So far this book is incredibly boring. I am having to force myself to continue. Hope it picks up soon

Book 2 (Getting Serious by Rachel Spangler) brings the book rating down to 3 stars

Note to Lezfic authors: STOP using the phrase - "I'm in so much trouble here." Every lezfic author uses that phrase and by now it is cringe worthy. I have begun to scratch it out of the books I have. PLEASE!!!!

Interesting...MJ Duncan talks a lot about editing in this book and there are errors on almost every page. She needs to spend some time re-reading what she has written.
