Was close to putting it down through those first 80 pages … but glad I didn’t !!!!!

Fuck this is depressing

The journal of my decline on goodreads: lately the dark edges of my life have acquired a new edge and the brighter sides have dulled and glumed. The categorically horrible things I’ve lived through taunt me with the question of their lasting effect on my conscience. Perhaps due to my new condition of Being Seen. The sentence in this book: “there was really only one thing and that thing was loss” - yeesh.

My head hurts. But. A question I have at this stage is whether it was truly necessary to write so much backstory to this story? Surely the point could have been arrived at faster.
