I can tell that I will definitely reread this, and will recommend to more or less anyone interested in American history. The point-of-view of a technological and communications based history keeps the history current and new for me as a reader, and it’s just beautifully written. Extremely engrossing for a topic so dense.

Loving this so far! Some of the essays - ‘Fantasies,’ ‘Deep Throat,’ and ‘Reunion’ so far - are near-perfect. I love the way Ephron comes to her conclusions. Based on the time period when the essays were written, it’s very reminiscent of Joan Didion for me, but feels more comfortable to me. Maybe because Ephron’s point-of-view is less nihilistic, or maybe just because she’s from the east coast.
