This book just won the Booker 🏆 prize tonight!!!! 11/10/25

The author took the prize in London.

I plan to finish in 5 days as I know the waitlist at the library is going to get long.

Istvan is a young teen living in Eastern Europe in an apartment with his mom when a 42 yr old woman (the neighbor) lives across the hall. Things slowly unravel (sex that leads to a death). I couldn’t put this book down…


We eventually follow Istvan through his institutionalization and then subsequent attempt to find work.

Less than 10% in and I already know I am going to thoroughly enjoy this book. A real estate agent with deep roots in a wealthy Massachusetts town. She tells how she can walk into a house and tell us all about the owners based on the way the house is lived in. Sometimes,she doesn’t even have to go inside. The outside reveals a lot.
