this book is so adorable i did not expect it to be this cute

I'm invested enough that I'll finish but this book is so annoying, people around Eleanor act in such cartoonishly (artificially) exaggerated ways. it's like one minute I'm reading an interesting book and the next it's a wattpad fanfic.

it's not that I'm not enjoying reading this, but the character building choices are so baffling to me, just on a technical level. you simply cannot overemphasize how cartoonishly mean everyone in eleanor's office is to her to the point of artificiality, and it annoys me bc that's clearly the author's choice to have all of them behave like middle schoolers
