Listen there's parts of it that are funny. I do like the world that they've built. Kind of reminds me of different settings in Lord of the Rings.

But there was something definitely weird about the super ancient near-immortal fairy guy being like "ah yeah she's 17 it's okay to have these feelings" and then proceed to kidnap her.

That's two counts of crime.

Ah yes the classic "she got hurt and now I'm gonna care for her" trope.

"I'm never gonna use this big scary deathly sword I voted I would never summon again for anything"
"Oh no they took the girl I kinda sorta like but won't admit. Gotta use the big sword now"

These people are ridiculous

Why would you think she meant for you to kiss him when the deal is between him and her?
Is this woman insane?

"Wait why are we talking about his penis?"
Camilla cocked her head, one brow raised. "I'm talking about his power."
"Oh."

This was so weird. It didn't need to come up.

It's the way I'm so exhausted of reading the same scenario over and over again. There's no real character development. Makes it so hard to get invested. Also the nicknames, why are we halfway through the book introducing the 5th nickname for a character? Please stop.

This is the most boring garbage I've ever read. The characters are so unbelievably insipid. It's just drivel. It's constant meaningless sex scenes and too many alternative name for the characters and just always describing men as large or colossal or big. We get it. The men are big. Find another adjective.

This might be the worst book I’ve ever read.

None of this makes sense. She breaks so easily. Suddenly she’s doing all this with this guy and she’s fine? No consistency in this book at all.

So she gets a super rare power that hasn’t been seen in a century (Mary Sue)? But then all she can do about it is COMPLAIN how her power makes her a weapon. As if she isn’t just absolutely giddy about it. I’m so sick of this pick me character.

Hahahahahahahahha

The writing seems to be getting progressively worse. Almost as if she’s rushing to finish the book and cram in a whole lot of meaningless action.

One moment she’s in an office, the next moment she’s in a meadow. PACING. Does this writer not know how to write?

In the middle of an intense conversation and suddenly all hell breaks loose. The safety inspector of Hogwarts would be far more shocked by what Basgiath considers a “field trip”.
Just the sudden shift to “get her out of here and attack is coming”. It felt so random. Terrible writing.

The pacing is so weird. It’s sometimes super quick in mere sentences and sometimes pages and pages are about one scene.
The chapter sectioning is so odd too. Sometimes one scene is cut in half and started on another chapter. Then a whole new scene starts in the middle of the chapter but with a drop cap.

What does she mean by piss-inducing? The sentence is “the piss-inducing parade of cadets before this year’s dragons waiting to bond”.
Does the parade of cadets make you want to pee? Or do the cadets want to pee because the dragons are scary? She’s really gone about it the wrong way.

Petition to change Violet’s name to Mary Sue.

Someone please clarify.

Girliepop is straight up poisoning people and cheating, right?

Again with the “I’m not going to the Scribes” but constantly whinging about wishing she could.

At what point does MC die? That’ll make the book slightly more bearable.

Please stop with the Scribe thing. We’ve heard it so many times. We get it. Point made. Move on.

Can someone gently explain to me (because I might be stupid), why Violet keeps wishing she could go to the Scribe Quadrant when, on page 36, she was given the opportunity by Dain and she refused?
Pick a side.

This book cost me $12 and it was still a waste. I’d rather have the $12 back.

Is this for real? This scenario? This is actually something someone wrote into a book thinking it was cool and not absurdly illogical based on the entire setup that was made?

I’m making such slow progress because every time Violet says or thinks something I have to sigh and hold my head in my hands. She’s really the peak Pick Me.

It’s been 15 pages and she’s brought up the fact that she was meant to be a scribe and not a rider at least 195 times. We get it. You’re not prepared but somehow you’re gonna be the best rider because you have plot armour.
