“I intent to take seriously the experiences of disabled people in a world that often considers technology the ‘solution’ to the ‘problem’”

“When people posit disability as a ‘problem’, they look for solutions. Disabled people can and do have problems…however, many of our problems are social, structural, and practical problems that stem from the idea that disabled people are flawed.”

Most of the reviews for this book are from DNF’ers. I’m trying so desperately to slog through this book. I always tell other people “abandon a book if it’s boring!!” and I’m struggling to take my own advice because I AM genuinely interested in the plot…it just moves…so….slowly.

Ugh. DNF. Too slow of a slow burn. Too many extraneous details. Get on with it, already!

"Let's read a science fiction book. It'll be completely different." I'm almost a quarter of the way in and I'm finding it doesn't vary that much from a mystery or even comedy novel. The shift in timeline from present to past is just enough to add suspense to the timeline and enough plot to make an other wise basic "woke up from a coma on a spaceship" narrative more interesting.
