Interesting talk about the cultural and scientific uses for the elements, their origins and the fascinating conditions of value. Aluminum, before the discovery of electricity was found in rare nuggets. Now it’s as common as sand, imagine what would happen if a big enough source of gold was found.

Really enjoying the history, culture, and archaeology of these times. Music was just discussed, from music hall to Gilbert & Sullivan.

Still enjoying this book as I slowly make my way through it. Just passed the Women’s Movement. Superb.

Have to take the book back to the library. Excellent and fair description of the political situation preceding the bomb and the aftermath. Must finish later.

Not as happy with this book as I’d hoped. Rambles and seems (as it is) dated. Prefer reading Einstein’s science.

Really creepy - but well-done book

This is a guess - I'm listening to the audiobook - I like it a lot.

I m amazed at how much I have in common with this guy -in matters of taste, perception, and world outlook. This has nothing to do with the book, but is appealing to me. The descriptions of his perceptions of the results of his stroke are clear and understandable.

I was relieved to get to the end of this book. I had read the prior novels. They are very YA, but nicely done. This had some elements I didn't like relating to belief systems. But the adventure was pretty darn good.

This is the kind of science book I live for. Anecdotal; fills in the gap of my chemistry knowledge in a digestible way. thanks.

I finished this and the rest of the series ages ago.
