Mary Mcqueen is 63% done with Periodic Tales: The Curious Lives of the Elements
Interesting talk about the cultural and scientific uses for the elements, their origins and the fascinating conditions of value. Aluminum, before the discovery of electricity was found in rare nuggets. Now it’s as common as sand, imagine what would happen if a big enough source of gold was found.

Really enjoying the history, culture, and archaeology of these times. Music was just discussed, from music hall to Gilbert & Sullivan.

Still enjoying this book as I slowly make my way through it. Just passed the Women’s Movement. Superb.

Mary Mcqueen is on page 93 of 389 of Nagasaki: Life After Nuclear War
Have to take the book back to the library. Excellent and fair description of the political situation preceding the bomb and the aftermath. Must finish later.

Mary Mcqueen is 20% done with Out of My Later Years: The Scientist, Philosopher, and Man Portrayed Through His Own Words
Not as happy with this book as I’d hoped. Rambles and seems (as it is) dated. Prefer reading Einstein’s science.

An Aussie woman's views on the Aussie male and the aboriginals from the perspective of a camel trip. So far enjoying this read a lot.

Mary Mcqueen is on page 49 of 232 of The Man Who Forgot How To Read
I m amazed at how much I have in common with this guy -in matters of taste, perception, and world outlook. This has nothing to do with the book, but is appealing to me. The descriptions of his perceptions of the results of his stroke are clear and understandable.

Mary Mcqueen is finished with Oblivion (The Gatekeepers, #5)
I was relieved to get to the end of this book. I had read the prior novels. They are very YA, but nicely done. This had some elements I didn't like relating to belief systems. But the adventure was pretty darn good.

This is the kind of science book I live for. Anecdotal; fills in the gap of my chemistry knowledge in a digestible way. thanks.

Larry McMurtry's Books: A Memoir...it's so cool I want to take notes, esp of the travel books from the 19th C.
