There was joke that I though was funny. But again everyone talks weird. I really think the author should have choose another font for this book.

The font is hard for me to read. Or maybe it is the flow of conversation that is difficult for me🤔. Honestly I am not sure. But I like the art and what I can gather about the world building. Mainly I like that there are 3 types of people of the Gödels. (The MC we follow is not Gödel but of the Gödel. )The Magi, the Knights, and the Gardeners. The MC is a Gardener named Gowlitrot.

OK, so this whole page explains a lot. I still question of Julian is working for Legend. Like for the bad things.

I like the illustration of the letter that Legend left with Scarlett about the invitation to a party.

“It’s not mine. “ Scarlett’s throat felt tight as she looked down at her palms. Just one drop had given her a day of Julian’s life. It made her ache to think how many days were splattered all over her body—days he should have lived.

I don’t believe this for one second. He is not dead.

“No! Don’t give up,”Scarlett begged. “Please don’t leave me.” There were so many other things she wanted to say, but she feared that if she said her good-byes, it would make it easier for him to let go. “You can’t abandon me. You told me you were going to help me win the game!”

… she refused to believe it. It could not have all been false, merely a game to Julian. It had been moments she knew were real. She continued to watch him, hoping for some flicker of something, a glimmer of emotion, a glance that told her this act with a Legend was really the game.

“I’ll kill you, of course.” Legend laughed, but this time it was hollo, like a bell without a clapper inside. “I’m just kidding, no need to look at me as if I’ll sneak into your house at night and strangle all your kittens. If you answer incorrectly, I’ll reunite you with your male companion and together you can continue searching for your sister.

“If you use the threat of his punishment to control me, I will never obey or respect you. But if you let him go, if you show some of the humanity I read in your letters, I will be the perfect wife you paid for.” She recalled Julian‘s word in the tunnel and added “Do you really want a bride who will only sleep with you because another man will be tortured if she doesn’t?”

“And your fiancé has paid quite a sum for you. I don’t see why I need to make him wait any longer before enjoying what he’s brought.”

Scarlett’s horror escalated as her father‘s mouth slanted into a new smile. …It was horrid enough that she’d been purchased like a sheep… saying this was all she was worth.

“Father, please, we’re not married yet, this isn’t proper—“

Beside her Julian tensed, and Scarlet froze as well. She’d seen this young man before. His face was not the kind a girl easily forgets. Long sideburns fed into the neatly trim beard shaped like a work of art outlining lips designed for dark whispers and straight, white teeth, perfect for biting into things.

Scarlet …didn’t look away. Her eyes …traveling upward until they reached his black eye patch.

… pressing her closer and closer. Her elbow hit his chest, forcing her to twine her arms around his waist as his taut body molded against hers.

Scarlett‘s heart raced irregularly. The core stubble of Julian‘s jaw grazed her cheek as his hands wove low around her hips through the insubstantial fabric of her dress she could feel every curve of his fingers. If her father discovered her … she would be dead.

A few feet away, lay the body of a dead; this game had gone far enough. “ you can. I saw. I know Legend!”

Julian’s dark expression froze. For a moment he looked stunned, then his feature softened into a subtle amusement.

And then she—

Julian pressed her up against the wall, a few short feet after she attempted to run. “You’re going to get both of us killed if you don’t stop this,” he growled.
