Book 1 was so good, but this feels more like a palate cleanser. :(

Gosh, it feels like I'll never finish this. It just feels so ~icky~ and boring compared to everything else written in this universe. It's quite literally all over the place, and not in a good way.

I'm finishing this out of spite. One of them books you'd probably enjoy if you were 16 and haven't read 50 other books exactly like this before.

Ngl, this is really boring so far.

I sooo adore Holly Smale's style, please never stop writing. Her characters are so real.

This would be a fine poolside read, but it keeps pissing me off how normalized drunk driving is for Americans.

Why did this feel like a low-rated Supernatural episode, I wonder..

Wanted a quick little breather of a read, but it's quite boring so far & the drama feels artificial and forced.

And another thing while we're at it. The action in it is fast-paced and fluid without feeling forced. Everything leads nicely to the next moment.

Massive props to CC for writing teenagers that actually act like teenagers. I was a teen when I first read it so it wasn't that important, but I totally believe Clary is a 15 year old.

Yeah, so.. fuck that.

If there's a book that turns you into a misandrist... (Stupid, stupid, annoying men in every chapter. Women? Barely heard of them. The person who recommended it to me (a man) said it's quite a depressive novel, but I'm just pissed I spent time reading it.)

Gosh, I've read this a handful of times when I was in high school & I've internalized a lot of it, but now, at 25, it hits even harder.

I'm so bored every time I open this book, ngl. Can't believe Greta Gerwig took this and turned it into that masterpiece of a movie.

If this ends up with a twist like House of Hollow... Also, I feel like it definitely could've benefitted from a 50-100 page cut. The chapters are short enough, but I still feel like we're at a crawling pace.

Promise I'll finish it (out of spite) (the main character is so annoying)

The way I get Jane, having principles is important, but come onnn, go back to the man who would worship the ground you walk on. (Btw, my friend and I have very different views on Mr. Rochester, I get where he comes from, and she hates him. Oh, well. Also, applications to be my Mr. Rochester are open. Just fyi.)

The story flow is quite good, and while I'm annoyed they haven't looked in the lake, not even in daylight, sometimes I have to shut the book because I'm too creeped out (still a scaredy cat lol).

God, this is so much heavier than I expected.

This is such a stupid mess.

Gosh, the writing feels so lazy and so utterly male. Started this because of the alleged Supernatural connection, but it's kinda uncomfy now. Will finish it probably because it's not very long, but I don't have high hopes for the story.

So scrumptiously Twilight-esque, mwah. The writing's slow but good?? The author has a gift for creating an atmosphere, for sure. Love the tv show, but now I can also appreciate the immaculate casting choices.

This is just... so terribly dull. I barely read anything with male main characters nowadays (because men are boring), but I thought this was going to be witty at least.

Gosh, this is unexpectedly bland, no plot twist will make up for it I fear.

It's not every day that I swoon over a character nowadays, especially the "grumpy" ones but god, Jamie is definitely swoon-worthy. Also, I love how the whole witchery could be interpreted as autism. Like it fully could. I don't know if that was the author's intention, but reading some stuff in this as a not-quite-diagnosed autistic adult is so healing. Will devour it in a few hours if real life doesn't interfere.

This is sooo incredibly cozy and charming, very The House in the Cerulean Sea coded. <3

Girl, why on earth is drunk driving normalized in this damn book? I'm not even 1/4 in and it's the second time someone does it. Like hello???

Madeline Miller is single-handedly getting me out of my reading slump

The vibes are great, excellent even, I'm enjoying 1920s New York as much as the next hobbit, but the mystery is stale and it took me 1/3 of the book to start remembering who's who. Will finish it but probably slooooowly
