Notes for a later review: probably three stars, decent haunting house narrative, though I find the strength to be more in social commentary than storytelling, at least for now, will rate higher if it eventually entwines both in a way that compels me. Excellent choice for syllabus re: its thematic narratives & structure

Peculiar cadence but it is a book written in the perspective of a child by an adult for other adults which in itself is interesting
