There's a lot I like about this book already. Sebastian is exactly the type of male protagonist I want to read about, and Grace is interesting and likable. The plot isn't new, but it's fun. (Insecure hero? Sign. Me. Up.)

The trouble is that the attraction between Sebastian and Grace was so strong and obvious from basically page one, that I'm honestly bored and annoyed waiting for them to get together.

Time for the annual re-read! This book never fails.

I'm supposed to get an Eli Ever vibe off Leo Flynn, right? Because I do, and I hate him.

This book took a sharp turn from "amazing" to "dark and upsetting... and maybe still amazing."

I think a "sort of good" book is worse than a bad book. A bad book you feel empowered to put down. A "sort of good" book you feel compelled to finish even though you probably don't feel inspired to do so. I'm reading two "sort of good" books right now and it's such a bummer.

Yeah, let's whip a knife at the evil witch who can make someone vomit blood, and then act surprised when the witch doesn't feel like helping you. *headdesk*

How am I supposed to feel about Maxim and Emira? Because I'm still pretty pissed at their behavior in the first two books and I feel like I'm supposed to forgive them because of a hug and some backstory. They both really needed more character building before this.

This book just doesn't let you catch a breath.

This book is as marvelous as the first one, but I'm a really struggling with Lila's motives here. I feel we only barely touched on her reasons why and because of that, everything she's doing just feels like stupidity.

This is my second attempt at this book. I picked it up once and couldn't get into it. Now I don't know what my problem was.

So far, this is the most uncomfortable installment in the series. I can't get a sense of Oliver, and I just feel really sad for Jane. That said, it's still an amazing read.

This author is SO GOOD at describing action. Not a single extra word.

Irene and Kai have a strange chemistry, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe that's the point? I dunno.

Honestly, the chemistry between Marcus and Phoebe is infinitely hotter than Matthew and Diana, and they aren't even in the same ROOM. Don't @ me.

Hmmm... lots of Diana and Matthew for a book that was supposed to be about Phoebe and Marcus.

So... the author introduces the Big Villain about halfway through the second book (literally one encounter), and now I'm supposed to throw all my emotional energy behind the character in book three? Weird flex, but OK.

Oh for... why not? Everyone's in love with Diana, because that needs to happen. Gallowglass deserves better. Diana has turned into a sad-sack without any agency.

Did the author really just self-reference, because...seriously now?

Matthew just went all wild animal on Chris for daring to *swear* in front of Diana, and I'm so tired of this possessive nonsense. Currently Team Fernando, subject to change.

Boy, there sure is a lot of standing around and talking for a final installment in a trilogy.
