“Nobody can compel a physicist to move in close to define energy and angular momentum. He has no need to move in close; and he may have compelling motives not to: the internal structure of the sources may be inaccessible, incomprehensible, uninteresting, dangerous, expensively distant, or frightening.” P 463
“Right? No, the question is wrong. The motivation is wrong. The result is wrong. The idea is wrong.” P467

Sakharov's analysis suggests that gravitation is to particle physics as elasticity is to chemical physics: merely a statistical measure of residual energies.

A fun republishing of a ~1920s work from a coffee distributor. An interesting and quick read - glad it was republished!

Matt Heavner is finished with The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: A New History of a Lost World
This was a fantastic update (from loving dinosaurs as a kid - lots has changed! / been learned) and overview of all things dinosaurs. Great perspective.

So far, Moab has gotten nuked, Richard Forthrast has died, and Enoch Root got crucified. Wow, and totally awesome. And, I’m pretty sure I haven’t even gotten to the main story line!!! ZOWIE!!!

Matt Heavner is finished with Sally Ride: America's First Woman in Space
Great narrative about an amazing person! I learned a great deal. I was most interested in the OSTP/PCAST "teaser" (not a great deal about Ride's government advisement on nonproliferation, but the mention was intriguing). I was in DC when I read this, so ran down to Air & Space to see Sally's spacesuit!

Matt Heavner is reading Arab Winter Comes to America : The Truth about the War We're in
ug. this is so biased. It is not a look at the issues, but a polemic on an opinion. I just hit a "red flag" -- minor, but calling it the "democrat party".. I'm powering on to understand this point of view (definitely a very pointy point of view..)

great read, but just to nit-pick. On p 53, the have the IP address of an MIT elevator 12 18.280.090.113.. IP (v4) only goes to 256. Error - does not compute.
