Listening to the rest of Ministry of Time, chapter 9, Graham’s line “during your obsession did you ever think I was a person?” was so good!

Very interesting if somewhat of a slow burn.

I just can’t put this audiobook away, the performance and story is so goddamned good. And the reveal in chapter 63 is so insanely well done and well foreshadowed!!!! I am thoroughly impressed! Inspires me on writing my own good foreshadowing!

While appreciate the content warnings related to this book, I personally haven’t encountered anything worse than what is in stuff like “Berserk” or “The Fifth Season”. Don’t get me wrong, it gets very dark and very gross, but the characters we are following are appropriately horrified so we, as the readers, can digest the horrors in the story. I also love the immense medical detail.

Lots of gore and body horror, but still interesting. The narrator Saskia Maarleveld is amazing, her performance is keeping me hooked.

I’m really enjoying the world and how well the author writes in the direct style of Nordic sagas

All I want to do is yell at Rainer and say, “Dude, she is MARRIED!!! Let her move on!” 😂😂😂

Omg is the author hinting at a threesome in chapter 43!? 😂

Also, why doesn’t she try and get pregnant and have a baby THEN use her goddess powers? Heck, she could already be pregnant, she and Xander have been going at it like rabbits.

It’s kind of disappointing that it’s only male characters and male gods telling Cecilia it’s okay to sacrifice her ability to get pregnant to become a goddess. I’m guessing there’s some goddess loophole where she can have a baby in the future, but even so, not only does she believe she can’t have kids, so does everyone around her, including gods.

If Rebecca is old enough to have grandkids then she’s old enough to have had the smallpox vaccine as a child. I don’t think she could have gotten sick with cowpox due to her vaccine. I only nitpick because this book and the previous book are so wonderfully detailed and accurate.

I love how Malcolm and Anna’s bond is not only growing stronger as a married couple, it’s literally a major plot point. It’s hard to make a couple that’s been married for 10 years seem romantic, but they very much are in this book.

I’m at the part with the “Saga of Walmart” and I can’t stop laughing. This book is such a perfect mix of comedy, sci-fi, and historical fiction.

Now onto part 3 I am really into how this book is basically a collection of reports, letters, and journals. The various voice actors are also great.

I’m so confused, I have no idea what she sacrificed

SPOILER: I’m glad the author finally mentioned the birth control magic, but I was hoping for a pregnancy plot, especially after Cecilia’s trick 😅

Interesting but very thick. I dropped this off a few years ago when a different book came out and now I want to finish it. The perspective of the Irish lady during Shakespearean England is pretty funny

By this point in the book my only expression is 😳

Anna holding her five year old and trying to remember her as a baby really hit home. My own kid is almost 5 and when things are hard I also want to give her a big hug.

Starting this new series specifically because both Will Damron and Tim Campbell are narrating it. The fact that it’s a romantic fantasy with gods is an absolute bonus!

I get Preston being young wanting to help Effy get her medication, but the reality is she’s been abusing them. And of course she goes overboard once she hears her awful mother’s voice. I feel like this whole book is an allegory for suicide. I hope it has a happy ending like the first.

These two are together, I wish they would just talk to each other. So much would be resolved if they did. I get why they wouldn’t, they’re young people in their first relationship, but it’s still annoying.

Also, Gary Furlong, the male voice narrator, is fantastic, amazing at accents and tone. He reminds me of a young Simon Vance.

So, while listening to the audiobook, I love both narrators, but I am curious as to why the male narrator doesn’t use a Scottish accent throughout his narration, only when Preston is speaking? I’m of the view that when you have separate narrators for separate POV characters that is essentially their voice, right? The narration still works well, I just wish his chapters were Scottish all the way through.

I love how Racor, the surgeon, is so mad at Marcus and Felix for hiding Marcus’s asthma for years 😂. Especially when several other men in the legion have it and there’s a pretty simple treatment. My Dad is a surgeon and man it is so realistic the rage they get when they encounter someone who has been stupid by hiding a basic medical issue. Also Agrippa is the GOAT

Holy crap, I only just realized that the potion the corrupted old man gave Marcus was liquid blight! It’s why his head pounds in pain when he goes against the corrupter in his thoughts he starts having major headaches! It’s such clever writing, I love it!

I really appreciate the unreliable narrator technique used, and somewhat revealed best in this book, that the internal monologue of each character is actually them being slowly influenced by “the Corruptor” aka this world’s version of Satan.

I really appreciate that the love making scenes, both the one in chapter 43 and others ones before this in the series, aren’t terribly graphic. You know exactly what’s going on, but because the language isn’t crass, doesn’t use words like “cock”, it makes it more erotic and meaningful. It bothered me when language like that was used in “Twisted Throne”, felt out of place
