Smart use of the timeline.

So far it's as delicious as the hunch that I got when I first saw the novel at a book fair...

I feel like the focus in this third book is hit-or-miss…

It seems every chapter wants to reference and include some suspense, so far clearing up almost none. Negative or positive--depends on how it'll develop.

Frank Herbert is like Muad’Dib. He must know everything beforehand to make it happen.

An 80-metre tall gate!!

So many conversations inside other conversations.

Already getting into the story's pace... of course it'd be easier reading more than once every three weeks.

Now I’m sad.

After a very peaceful volume so far, sudden cruelty strikes again…

Characters seem to be losing their humanity once again. Dry developments so far.

Large festivities incoming...

Surprised at how consistently this volume is following the development of just one or two main things.

Aki Irie being a fan of women becoming naked with no relation to the plot, once more... At least matched it trying to gouge some male nudity as well.

The story seemed to move forward as finally some action and reaction took place instead of mere hypothesising... but soon enough it was confirmed that every time there is a turn the book, decides to address it in a way it goes nowhere.

Ended up as a rather irritating reading session.

I'm left uneasy by reading about this "relationship" about people who don't communicate and barely know each other, and who bounce in-between situations without ever speaking up...

Finally the much-needed mother-daughter conversation.

A "quieter" book so far, but I enjoyed how naturally France's out-of-the-ordinary swims are slipped into the scenario.

The events grow in severity and cruelty with each book... When will they be too much for the apparent quietness to not crumble down?

The horror gradually seeps in, as well as the stronger and more decisive character traits. Also, the tenderness between some of the family members, even if within odd circumstances.

Mrs. Dalloway has been my "travelling book" for what seems to be... five years already! Which is to say that I carried it around due its small format but in such occasions that I never got to read. Indeed I think I had never reached as "far" as... page 8.

Skipping the introduction as it's spoilerish as always, but it'll be good to read later. And opening phrase takes me back to The Hours (film)... Great memories.

Sorrow-Acre is exceedingly dense.

Read half in one brief sitting.

Slightly disappointed at the closing of an otherwise great story of unknowing, humble characters, and a cook with a long history.

"Y todos los días tenía que sonara el teléfono y que me dijeran:
- Mamá ha vuelto a llamar a los vecinos
- Mamá ha tomado demasiadas pastillas
- Mamá ha muerto."

Un duro temor, bien reflejado con aplomo y sencillez.

Solid table of parallel historical events to bring context.

I'll take it as a good example of how to tell whatever you want in just a few pages. Loving it.

The ending leaves a fuzzy good-hopes-for-the-future feeling, inexplicably...

It really gives you motivation to organise and send away unnecessary stuff, even in the straightforward and simple way the story is told (maybe because of that). Though I'm not sure I could follow suit with what it suggests for books.
