So far this has been about 75% sexual tension and 25% characters working on furthering the plot. Not my typical read.

It is very likely that I am not the audience for this book.

This book is a lie.

I still don't care what happens to any of these characters

There are just strings and strings of examples where a few would do. A half page of things this small town sells. A quarter page of the seasonal items in the craft store. It feels like someone is padding length.

Is there such a thing as too much detail? Is this book hyperbole? I've read most of rot & ruin. I don't recall so much use of archetypes. Getting hard to continue.

Kinda real slow hopelessness going on. Reading this book feels like slowly freezing/ starving to death without hope.

Blatantly obvious love triangle is obvious.

For the "first" book of series, there is zero character introduction. We jump into stories with no help to know who the characters are or how they know each other, let alone the larger picture with the political background. If I hadn't watched the Netflix series, I would be completely lost. There is also little to no flow from one section or chapter to the next. This reads like a collection of short stories.

Finding it difficult and annoying to read when about 10% is in Spanish. like one word a sentence for no real reason.

Pretty enthralling.

Slooooooooow. I'm expecting intrigue at some point.

The dialogue is bad. like really unnatural. the current mini plot is preposterous. the overall plot is just silly. the premise had promise but the execution is falling way short.

so far it's hunger games meets something else. something caste ish.

it's getting preposterous, for a book with angels, demons, vampires, a dystopian future classist society and a some how oppressed minority with xmen superpowers.
