Super spy thriller

Hard to read aloud to my grandchildren but I think everyone should have the benefit of the useful cultural reference “tar baby” so I went straight to the source with Uncle Remus. As my mother would say, “you ain’t makin’ a dollar a minute, you makin’ a fool of yourself.” More folkism from Uncle Remus.

Lived every page but my library loan expired before I finished so I have to wait a few weeks to get back to it. National Review was a staple publication in my house growing up and reading about its roots in the great mind of WFB is more than enlightening.

Fun stuff - not at all what I expected but delighted to be surprised by a real story about our Emily writing her scholarly work on faries.

Silly but engaging and I keep coming back for more. Ms. Peterson has an imagination like a troop if baboons on crack- I love it!

Still trying to remember what happened before so I can reorient myself to the current excitement. I love this saga.

I want to see what happens next but I don’t want to finish the book before the next in series becomes available from the library. Good stuff this allomancy.

I gave up, it wad not what I thought it was

It’s a tough read but worth the effort.

This is the first time I have ever given up entirely on a book- it was just too dense for me to slog through and I have read some pretty dense prose in the past. Try Joyce or Faulkner for something lighter than this.

I can’t write an unbiased review because I think everything I’ve read from Sanford so far is great! I just started Lucas Davenport no.10.

A good mini dose of Reacher while I wait patiently (not) for the next novel. Can’t get enough of this guy. I’ve been through the whole series twice already and if the next one doesn’t get here soon, I’ll start on Killing Floor again.

These books are fabulous; start at the beginning and pace yourself because you’ll be unhappy when you are finished and don’t have another one to start. I can’t say much more without telling the whole story.

Good mystery, twisted family. I am a sucker for all things Burke, father and daughter; they write actual durable literature, not just pulp fiction, imho.

This book stands alone from the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series, which I love for the action and quirky characters but I’d recommend reading it as part of the main series anyway as it goes a long way toward explaining Carol Starkey who is one of the lovable quirky characters swirling around Elvis and Joe. Elvis and Joe remind me a little bit if the Bobbsey Twins, Dave Robicheaux and Clete Purcel of James Lee Burke’s world

I picked this series up randomly but now I’m hooked and having read them all twice, I want more. A little murder, a little romance, some quasi-royalty thrown in for interest and it’s a page turner. The next one is even better...

This is a cute quick read; I like all of Elaine Viets’ different series and this was no exception. Not an epic saga but an enjoyable read.

I like these little Amory Ames forays into mystery. Light and entertaining.

I am just a pure Reacher maniac from the first book to the last so I cannot write an unbiased review. If Lee Child wrote about what Reacher had for breakfast yesterday, I’d wax enthusiastic about that too. All I can say is read them all, if you can but start at the beginning and go in order.
