First time in a while I’ve struggled to put a book down in order to go to bed at a decent time

I could not tell you why this is taking me so long

“Today she’ll be using the climbing harness that wraps around her hips like some kind of strange bondage gear” oh BROTHER

Trying to figure out if the main character sucks on purpose or not

Mountain/climbing horror is usually not great, but I’m bound and determined to find the good stuff

“Silence rains down between us. Like a storm cloud breaking loose, tendrils of its fog untying to let a torrent of hush descend and douse us with it. I wait in the breadth of the downpour, soaking in Kaila’s expressions, letting her soak in mine.” Spare me, please

“The ocean is calm right now though, where ships bob gently, teal crystalline water sparkling brightly in contrast to the castle’s sandy-white walls and its coral roofs pitched sharply toward the sky.” Do you see how may descriptors are in this single sentence

Straight up do not know if I can do this. I don’t know why I’m so committed to finishing this series

Is this my usual choice for a book? Not really. But it was gifted to me many years ago and I feel like I owe it a read before giving it away. I hope never seeing the show doesn’t affect anything.

“The difference tore at him.” I was not expecting Frank to write tragic romance in a way that would make me so sad

“The older the steel the higher the price, especially if it was produced before the nuclear age, when modest levels of atmospheric radiation began to be melted into new steel, making it slightly weaker.” I already knew this fact but I freak out a little every time I’m reminded of it

“There’s got to be some other reaction to beauty than wanting to fuck it,” she wrote in her journal. “If it’s even beauty we’re talking about here.”

The wind sang against my ears and my hands sung in the cold, but I would have let that little horse run clear to the end of the world just to keep sharing his sense of freedom, his peace at doing only what he ought to be doing while the world rushed past, unseen and unseeing.

The writing? Great. The plot? ….slow :/
