(Queen's death day, H remembering his last convo with her:) Four days earlier, chatted to granny on the phone, her health of course, the trouble at No.10, the (___) games. She was sorry at not being able to attend.

(Reached Balmoral, greeted by Anne. Charles, William (and Camilla) were not around Balmoral when he came, nor when he left.)

15 hrs. 44 min.s: Pa said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn’t want her. He started to lay out his reason which was nonsensical and disrespectful and I wasn’t having it. “Don’t ever speak about my wife that way.” He stammered, apologetic.

What relief we (H & M) thought, no longer having to worry about timing, protocol, journalists at the front gate.

The only difference was that Meg and I were upfront about it. We chose an interviewer who was above reproach and we didn’t once hide behnd phrases like palace sources. We let the world see the words coming out of our mouths. I looked at the gothic ruin. What’s the point? Willy was still talking. And Pa was talking over him and I could no longer hear a word they said.

I failed to see how my speaking to Oprah was any different than what my family and staff had done for decades? Briefing the press, palnting stories. And what about the endless books on which they cooperated starting with Pa’s crypto-biography with Jonathan Dimbleby or Camilla’s collaboration with (inaudible).

A month earlier Meg and I had done an interview with Oprah Winfrey….since leaving Britain the attacks on us were increasing exponentially. We had to try something to make it stop. Being silent wasn’t working. Several close mates and beloved figures in my life () how could you reveal such things about your family?

Pa said, “If you can just endure it for a little longer, they’ll respect you for it.” I could endure the press but not complicity of Pa’s office and Willy’s office enabling these fiends. Meg was now a bully…..They said I was delusional…..Willy said I was a fine one to talk about collaborating with the press.

15 hrs. 30 min.s: I’d been walking with Pa and Willy for half an hour but it felt like one of those long marches the military put me through…….They brought up my hacking lawsuit because it directly affected them….still hadn’t asked about Meg. “Suicide mission” Pa mumbled. “Maybe, but its worth it.” I’d soon prove the press were not only liars, but lawbreakers, and some of them thrown in jail.

Miscarriage. (he blames Daily Mail’s pursuit of M’s 4 friends who spoke on her behalf to People Magazine and M staying up late to ‘protect’ their identity, that’s when she started bleeding)

[M purchased an ornament with Queen’s face on it and hung it on the christmas tree. H liked it]

They made it sound as if there was an agreement between us….we released a statement of our own (service is universal)…..this new slapdown from the palace was like petrol on a bonfire.… we were villified everyday on social media (presumably sanctioned by palace, etc.)

15 hrs. 21 min.s: Feb. 2021. They took it all away, I thought even my military associations. (No longer Captain of Marine blah blah or wear ceremonial military uniform). I told myself they could never take away my real uniform or my real military status. But furthermore, we will no longer be doing any service for the Queen.

During labor: PH took laughing gas, all of it.

(after delivery and back home, announcement on MM being in labor was given to the press. PH objected but was overridden): Truth didn’t matter. Keeping people tuned to the show, that was the thing.

Press were incensed. Did they still think of us as partners….did they still expect preferential treatment given how they’d treated us the last 3 years?

I tried to compare what Pa and Camilla had done to him with what press had done to Meg. Willy snapped. I’ve got different issues with you two. In a blink he shifted all his blame on to me. Meg was coming from the house towards me (and had already heard) The tears in her eyes glistened in the spring sunshine. Holding her stomach she walked back to the house.

By granny’s person he meant Angela (she was skilled at planting stories). Willy said what a rubbish comparison, why would a grown man want their own Angela? But Pa just kept saying that….I was glad Willy could still come to me about Pa and Camilla ven after all we’d been through….

Just because we both were getting bad press and he was getting good press, that didn’t mean his staff was behind it. But we had proof, reporters inside newsrooms, telling us that this woman was selling us out. Pa refused to listen. His response was churlish, pathetic: ‘Granny has her person, why can’t I have mine?’

He’d already confronted Pa once about this woman face to face. I’d gone along for moral support. The scene took place at Clarence House in Pa’s study. Willy said to Pa: ’How can you be letting a stranger do this to your sons?’ Pa immediately got upset. He started shouting to Willy that he was paranoid . We both were.

I believed this story was given as a direct swap to get direct access to Pa and also as a reward for suppression of stories on Camilla’s son who had been (gallivanting) around London, generating tawdry rumors….(but lately it was happening way more regularly to Willy) Willy was justifiably (angry).

I got it. They’d done this to me and Meg as well. But it wasn’t them technically. It was the most gung-ho member of Pa’s comm team (getting good press for them at the expense of bad press for us; and also fake stories on heir and spare). My hunting trip to Germany in 2017 (to cull wild boar and save farmer crops) was turned into fat-bottomed baron who craved blood and trophies.

14 hrs in: Towards the end of April 2019 when Meg was days away from giving birth, Willy rang. Something had happened between him and Pa and Camilla. He was upset, seething actually. Pa and Camilla’s people had planted story or stories about him and Kate and the kids he was not going to take this anymore. ‘Give Pa and Camilla an inch and they take a mile’ he said. ‘They’ve done this to me for the last time.’

Frogmore Cottage, Office in Buckingham Palace

We decided not to do anything with Royal Rota.

Shift to Frogmore: (H calls granny/Queen, says all the properties offered too grand, too lavish, too expensive to renovate. They didn't want those. She suggests Frogmore. He thinks its the larger 'Frogmore House', No, rather Cottage, hidden, tucked away, historic and a building site, near the royal burial ground (and with planes loudly passing over from Heathrow). H & M visit it, like it.

(PW hadn’t been to Not Cot since MM shifted there).

I said,….If his sister-in-law was having trouble adjusting to a new office, a new family, a new country, a new culture, couldn’t he (PW) cut her some slack? (Fight ensues. PW swears, calls PH names and swings a blow at him. He then apologizes, tells him not to tell MM, and leaves. PH calls his therapist and later on tells MM).

Willy asked for a meeting, the whole rolling controversy. Just him and me, he said. He it happened Meg was out of town, was visiting girlfriends. He looked piping hot…..’Meg’s difficult, she’s rude, she’s abrasive, she’s alienated half the staff.’ Not the first time he (inaudible) the press narrative.’

(She learnt cursive writing which she then used to pay the rent by writing wedding and birthday cards.)
(He and she wanted to sue but were told that it was not advisable).
