Good story so far, I'm hoping the slightly over clever Richard III parallel doesn't get too laboured.

Really good story, read in virtually one sitting. Really good variation on the usual fantasy tropes. Would be interested in more stories in this world.

"How do you tell if someone is immortal?" she whispered. "You kill them, and see if they get up again," he answered

Getting better, the story has picked up and the inevitable romance (I spy a love triangle) is being dealt with with unusual sensitivity.

Quite enjoying this book so far, but every so often a clumsy 21st century phrase spoils the illusion.

Good looking steampunk novel.

Splendid selection of short stories on the theme of conspiracy theories

Really enjoying these stories.

Great fun.

Read the first two stories, very short almost like an Amicus vignette from one of their portmanteau filmed and just as enjoyable. Judging by the first part of this book if you enjoyed "Tales of the Unexpected" and "The Twilight Zone" then you'll enjoy this too.

Interesting so far, this story I suspect I will either love or throw at the wall in disgust before the end...

The Well Oiled Machine Another piece of puerile poetry, I will however go on to the next story and not condemn the book on the strength of a poem.

Letters to the Prince Dreadfully short but a rather nice little story. The best thing I've read in the book so far.

One pleasure of reading books from the early part of the 20th Century, especially those dealing with "foreign parts", it's that the writers pepper their work with obscure words of foreign origin that expand the vocabulary! I have today discovered the word "kahn", from the Persian kân, meaning an inn or hotel

So, the Devil Doctor is defeated and left for dead once more. Petrie and his beloved have arrived at Port Said having survived the evil intent of the Bishop of Damascus! What will await them when they attempt to solve the Si-Fan Mysteries?

The Mystery of Dr Fu Manchu is finished. The sinister doctor has disappeared in the flames of a burning building. Dr Petrie is heading up the Nile to visit his beloved Karamaneh and all is right with the world. But what's this on the next page we have The Devil Doctor or The Return of Doctor Fu-Manchu...

The picture that he presented at that moment is one which persistently clings in my memory. In his long, yellow robe, his masklike, intellectual face bent forward amongst the riot of singular objects upon the table, his great, high brow gleaming in the light of the shaded lamp above him, and with the abnormal eyes, filmed and green, raised to us, he seemed a figure from the realms of delirium.

Amelia. Another very short story, better than before, although the ending is weak, however it's still not a steampunk story. The editor of this collection seems to equate mystic Victoriana-lite, overly elaborate verbiage and magical science with Steampunk and it's not working as far as I'm concerned. Victorian Urban Fantasy is fine (although these stories aren't that) but it isn't steampunk.

The Properties of Mercury. Very short and not Steampunk! Magical mercury isn't science, this is a fantasy story set in foggy London (tm). I hope this collection improves soon.

Well, that was a disappointing start... Cogs in Time is a poem that wouldn't be out of place in a sixth form art magazine. I hope the anthology improves.

Another cracking book in the Safehold series.
