I'm not big into fantasy books but I love fantasy movies. I like how it can easily grab your interest and skips over unnecessary scenes.

Grief. Loss. Discovering your heritage. Learning about the secrets your mother has been keeping. And even a magical bird.

Keiko Furukura is an interesting character. Making sure she fits in with society by copying the way others speak and their fashionable tastes. I wonder if she will grow to become her own person by the end.

I would have love reading this as a kid. It has the right amount of magical realism.

I was waiting for the steamy part to happen and it did. Took long enough.

Finally something to make me think this is a romance story. Nothing big but some kind of sexual tension.

Amir went back to Afghan and described how the taliban ruined it.

A lot of telling and not showing. Chapters 10-13 were about his escape from Afghan and how it was for Amir and his father to live in America. I think these chapters could have been shorter or just mention in passing.

Current day romance books aren't my thing I've noticed. Chloe's and Red's relationship is heartwarming. I like the wittiness they show to each other.

The best and worst thing has happened so far. I know what is a kite runner now but I haven't connected it to the story yet.

I love the dynamic between Amir and Hassan. They are best friends who grew up together but Hassan is treated as lower class by society. Pashtuns (sunni) have oppressed the Hazaras (shi'a). Sadly, even Amir at times treats Hassan that way although it doesn't seen to bother Hassan.
I love that there is foreign language used throughout the book. I feel like I'm learning a bit of their culture.

I didn’t expect this book to be about religion in the late 1800s. I can’t believe I’m interested in finishing it. I normally don’t read books like this. So far I love the friendship between the two girls but I don’t really see the point in having Simon around. Maybe he will do something big by the end.

This has reminded living in a dorm at college and the nervousness of being away from your family. When reading this, I can imagine it as a comic like heartstopper. Enjoying this!

I love the way she brought these characters to life Patroclus is Achilles conscious and better half. He shows him love even when the war can ruin it.

Her eating disorder is described subtly. You have to pay attention or you will miss it.
