At 30%, a very satisfying read; a good story well told.

Just when you thought global warming was going to end civilization, turns out there are a lot of factors vying for that privilege. Several, of course, are cooperating on such a course. This collection of articles broadens the field of causes for our end, or at least the end of civilization as we have come to know it. Informative, and enjoyable (in a sick sort of way).

A delightful multi-biography, indulging in life, philosophy, history, work and play. Existentialists come alive. Hard to imagine.

Slow reading, and distracted by other books. It's a tough read, at least for me. The first half, on the intricacies and intrigues of the first gilded age, the social reaction to it, was fascinating. The second half is describing the factors behind our current gilded age, and it's differences from the first, including non-reaction.
