Die philosophischen Begriffsgrundlagen waren etwas langatmig, aber das liegt auch an meiner völlig fehlenden Affinität zu Philosophie. In der zweiten Buchhälfte geht es ans Eingemachte mit konkreten klinischen Fragestellungen.

Gut geschrieben, konzise, verständlich - bis jetzt komm ich rasch voran. Möchte das Buch lesen, weil ich bald in der Arbeit Ethikfallberatungen durchführen möchte/soll und noch mehr Hintergrundwissen möchte, das das Buch bisher gut liefert.

I wanted to start Mistborn Era 2 after finishing the first stormlight archive book, but I was so addicted I moved to the second tome directly. No regrets. I might just binge the whole series at once if it keeps being so good.

Three chapters left. Almost done and I think I will fulfill my goal of reading the entire book this year.

571 pages and we‘re not even halfway through. I am really enjoying the slow grind the characters are working through. Knowing Sanderson, it‘s all just a gigantic build up for an ending of magnitude.

Very, very slow buildup. Very cool setting (crustaceans as cattle?) I'm like 280 pages in and it still feels like in the middle of the exposition. But I'm not in a hurry :)

Done with my September chapters and even did some of October's. Only three more parts to go (CKD, treatment of kidney failure, hypertension), which coincidentally also are parts that I might be more familiar with than GNs from clinical work. Phew. Reading Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive's first installment for my "fun time" reading during September!

Drugs in Kidney diseases was mostly forgettable.
AKI was quite good but „novel biomarkers might someday help us“ is just not a very captivating conclusion (no shade to the authors). My August chapters are done but I‘ll keep reading as long as I have a good run. Hereditary kidney disease is next. First chapter is „APOL1 is a mutation that sucks but nothing we can do about it“. 😄

Reading this for a lil book club with a friend. You know you're reading an influential pioneer's work when you feel like you've heard all these principles already, but the reason for that is because that someone went out and laid it all out for you to see - hence why this has become such a classic of palliative medicine.

The part on systemic diseases is either lacking, or I‘m just a huge noob. Hoping the next parts will pick up the pace a tad. The chapter on ANCA associated vasculitis was brilliant though - the author of the chapter, Frank B Cortazar, did a marvellous job conveying a difficult topic.

I‘ve taken up some „serious“ reading on the side for a change. I aim to read two parts per month and whenever in the month that is done, I get to read fun stuff again during the rest of the month.
Most of the chapters are written in clear language, dive into the whys and reference current landmark trials, so having a surprisingly good time so far.

Pledging 12 books again for 2025, but 4 need to be in Japanese this time. Good luck to everyone with their challenges this year!

The most helpful parts of this book are the funny visualizations the author comes up with to explain the different cells’ jobs. It makes telling all the mechanisms apart so much easier.

It may look as if I am reading at a crazy pace, but I‘m currently wrapping up a few started-but-not-finished books that had been lying around for far too long.

I think this fanfic is like 600 pages but it‘s so palatable I‘m breezing through it in no time. Hilarious and romantic!

I didn‘t expect enjoying a fanfic so much. This is basically a full-fledged romance novel, but set in the HP universe. The humorous writing style helps, too.

Mere 24 hours after finishing the third book, we (reading this in tandem with my SO) have taken the plunge into the fourth instalment. This time, it’s got some serious „Erebos“ vibes. Holidays with not much going on are utterly perfect for some binge reading.

Just logged all the books still on my shelf in my childhood room. It will take me a while to hunt after all the books that have since been given away, that were rented from the library or that have disappeared altogether.

Don‘t care much for the characters, but the plot is intriguing. Classic hard sci-fi.

The book is detailed enough to be highly instructive while containing enough "breather" sequences so non-physics people can get through it anyway. I find myself reading this more slowly than usual, but still I frequently have to re-read some pages when I wasn't paying attention.

This is a surprisingy easy read. I'm having lots of fun breezing through Marcus Aurelius' thoughts and finding myself wishing he was still alive. I'd love to be friends with him. He seems like a solid guy.

The book is pretty complicated and I don‘t really get it, but it‘s kind of flowy so I‘m going to finish this
