Very interesting read b/c it provides such detail for battle plans, army movements, and sprinkled with personal observation and wry British humor.
I sought this book out b/c it dawned on me that I've spent a lot of time reading about US involvement in WW2, and am familiar with our theatres of operation. But I know nothing about the Far East theatre of operation. This was the domain of the British.

Taking a pause on this book. It's not quite what I expected. I'll shelve it and come back to it in the future.

Another excellent book by David McCullough. Well researched and documented. Very insightful and informative. Little did I know how much the French were involved in the history of the canal. One note though; a lot of detail was provided about the years leading up to its finish, but very little detail provided about the many technical details that went into the finished product. Feels like the writer ran out of steam.
