Finished Part 1. This book has NOT hooked me much until the end of this part of the story. I think the end of this part perhaps redeemed the slow and uninteresting buildup, I audibly went "wtf" a couple times. Definitely a good amount of quotable passages throughout, though.

Struggling with the novella part of this 😓 must push through!

DNF. Pretentious Funny Games wannabe with bad execution. Skimmed through some future chapters and ultimately decided my time would be better spent on something else.

I'm so engrossed!! 🫣 Malerman is good at creating tension.

First story done and 👌👌👌 I have high hopes for the rest. Excited! May just be an author I follow going forward

The series is continuing to be a fun and easy read :)

3/5⭐ so far. There are several things I really like about the narrative and messing with the trad novel format. I find myself picking this up and continuing it more frequently than I would have guessed.

Almost halfway through, it's a solid fantasy. Some creative ideas. Banter is quite lighthearted. Excited to try the supposedly more mature/dark Stormlight Archives. I will say that crime crew is not my usual topic of interest but I will surely be moving on to read the second book at this point.

I fell off the reading wagon as soon as I hit my 2024 goal in Dec so started reading this as a fun & easy way to try and get back on. Almost DNF'd, I know all romance is cringe and trash to an extent but this one had me displeased from Ch 1. It's more engaging after 1/3 way through, it actually feels more like an easy & fun read now. I may actually make it through this one.

I'm honestly enjoying this one a lot more now. I felt like the first third of the book failed to really hook me.

This is somewhere in the 3★ range so far. I appreciate having a themed read for christmas ☺️🎅👹🎄🎁
