Re-reading this only increases my love of the movies. The book is better than I remembered from previous reading, and realizing just how impressively the films managed to be true to the book while also being masterpieces in their own right.

I’ve heard about this book for a long time but finally just now reading it. I love the very practical lessons and the way Jocko and Leif tell their stories without trying to make themselves always sound like the cool heroes.

Fascinating read about the history and both Guinness and beer in general. Coming from a conservative Protestant background I was certainly never taught about the early Christian reformers’ views on drinking.

I honestly expected this to be a bit cheesier and more shallow… despite the title, it’s not. This is easily the best “man” book I’ve read.
