I hate to say it, but so far, this isn't very well-written. The prose is clumsy and sometimes unclear. World-building isn't explained well enough or when we need it. It already feels like it's longer than it needs to be for the amount we've learned about the characters and the amount that the plot has progressed. Is this really going to be worth 1000 pages of my reading life? I'm concerned.
