This was a book I had intended to just skim, but after reading the introduction I was hooked.

Blah blah blah. Sounds like every other self-help book I’ve ever read.

42 pages in and there are already too many inconsistencies and confused interpretations to track. Most glaring is the author’s misunderstanding of machine politics and its relationship with “the sporting fraternity,” particularly on the frontier!

I agree with much of Wineburg’s assessment of history education and its backwards approach. I was less convinced by his criticisms of Zinn, and they seemed sort of out of place.
