Wendy Cosin is on page 471 of 626 of Cloud Cuckoo Land
It is really saying something that at page 471, I want to slow down so the end of the 622 page book doesn't come too quickly. I love this book.

Wendy Cosin is on page 110 of 350 of Southland
I picked up Southland based on its selection by the California Bookclub in March 2021. Very good interview with the author in the link below.

This is not working for me, perhaps because I am only listening to it. I will get the book soon to see if that helps. The main thing is I am sick of hearing her whine about how much she loves Casey.

Wendy Cosin is on page 47 of 288 of Sea Wife
I think I'm going to like Sea Wife a lot. Two voices - Juliet, a poet and failed PhD, looking back at her depression after childbirth - alternating with her husband Michael's "captain's log" as they journey on a sailboat in the Caribbean. I like both of their senses of self and humor.

Wendy Cosin is finished with Apeirogon
of the topics that fill pages between the stories of the two men. The information is often interesting and is relevant, but at the cost of the flow of the novel.

Wendy Cosin is finished with Apeirogon
The protagonists are an Israeli man and a Palestinian man who both lost young daughters in violence related to the Occupation. They are interesting and sympathetic characters who become friends and work together toward peace. They are based on real people.

Colum McCann clearly did a tremendous amount of research. A variety of topics including bird migration, military hardware, tunneling are only a few

Wendy Cosin is finished with Apeirogon
Apeirogon is a shape with a countably infinite number of sides.

Apeirogon, A Novel, does not read as a novel. There are no chapters in this 453 page book. There are about a 1000 numbered sections ranging from one sentence to one or two paragraphs to a page. They frequently jump between topics and time periods. There often is a logic in the order until the narrative switches to another topic.

Wendy Cosin is 80% done with Fallout (V.I. Warshawski, #18)
I took Fallout out of the library to listen to on a long car trip. The first part was quite slow and I think it is better to read Sara Paretsky than listen to the audio to help keep track of characters and plot points. That said, the narrator is good.

A bit of a slog, feels very "one note" even though the back stories are varied. Maybe it will pick up when the back stories are finished.

Not sure I will finish this. Kind of interesting to read another epistolary novel right after finishing A Tale for the Time Being, but the structure isn't working for me in The Jaguar's Children. Although I LOVED Vaillant's The Tiger, the pretend-reality of this novel is droning on.

Ironic, clever, great vocabulary, but at the point, it isn't involving me. Taking a break.
