Kellie is 50% done with City of Iron and Ivy

I’m halfway through City of Iron and Ivy and can’t neatly categorize it…which might be why I love it.

It blends historical weight with something atmospheric and mysterious, shifting just when I think I understand it.

I want more Elsweth and Silas... there’s something quiet and not fully revealed about them.

And Kehinde? I really like him. He brings a steady, grounded strength as her trainer and friend...or is he?

This book was a bit of a disappointment; it redeemed itself toward the end, but many things didn't add up and were at odds with various characters' behavior. I will keep reading the series since I'm too invested at this point.

Kellie is 75% done with The Book of Azrael (Gods & Monsters, #1)

Chapters 1-9 were painfully slow, but the book really began to pick up around chapter 15/16 and now I don't want to put it down. Hoping we will get more dimension in the characters as we go on. So far, the author has missed some great opportunities (basically chapters 1-14) to develop the protagonists a bit more and hook the audience.
