This book is certainly... something. I can't figure out if the writing shows a nuanced, faithful depiction of an autistic FMC, or a completely OTT unhinged characterization. But I'm leaning towards the latter.

This is fun to listen to on audio due to the MMC narrator's Scottish accent, otherwise I'm finding the plot a little bit disjointed. At this point in the book I'd like to see more accidental touches and flustered moments than I have so far.

This is… not good. The FMC is supposed to be a 30yo Vice Principal (who by my every experience are steady, mature, level-headed folk) but acts like a 20yo who is impulsive, sulky and in no way in control of her emotions in a professional OR personal setting. Considering DNFing.

Gilling is amazing. THIS is how you write romantasy.

At this stage of the game I would take a bullet for Gus and Evan.

I am not enjoying this as much as the previous two. I think it's because the story is focused more on Wendell than Emily who is "along for the ride" rather than the instigator of any academic research.

This book is giving me anxiety at an escalating rate.

I can't shake the conviction that Fisher is a discount Rhysand, and it's affecting my enjoyment of the plot.

So far this is as near-identical to the original story, and weirdly the Gwyneth movie adaptation - as you can get whilst updating the setting. The plot points, the specific situations, the character interactions and even the WORDS spoken or thought are almost carbon copies. It's either brilliant or lazy, I can't decide. I do like having Knightley POV chapters though.

This book makes me feel cold! It's a winter fairytale spun with Novik's genius storytelling.

Magic is happening. Sexy times are happening. I don't know what else is happening because I have no earthly idea where the plot is going.

I didn't think it was possible but these two are too obsessed with each other, to the point of it being embarrassing for everyone around them lol

I can't remember the last time I literally LAUGHED OUT LOUD reading a book. This is FUNNY and I'm loving it.

Lou is the kind of character that is incredibly annoying as a side character, but when she's the FMC you definitely are on her team.

Ok I'm skipping to the end to see what happens. The plot is totally bogged down in political rebuilding and unnecessarily long dialogue exchanges. It's disappointingly bloated and I think it needed a more vicious edit. Will probably count this as a DNF.

I'm going to skip ahead to see if Old Mate is actually still alive, then DNF. I just can't with this communist revolution stuff.
