learned more about chemistry from a footnote than i did in all of high school

the latest in me rereading books i gave 5 stars as a teenager to find out whether the sequel(s) are worth pursuing — this one has surprisingly held up so far !

a long overdue reread of my favorite series of all time !!!

after almost a decade, I am in desperate need of a reread to determine whether the sequel to this is still worth my time. 16-year-old me gave this 5 stars & considered it one of the best dystopians she’d ever read … let’s see if she’s still right

we’re onto “religious tales for children”, so i guess the fun is over now

rereading before I read James by Percival Everett! definitely giving Jim’s character a lot more attention than I have in the past

some of these stories are familiar, some explore some very interesting & dark themes, but then there are some like this: “Once upon a time a mouse, a bird, and a sausage came together and set up house.”

i started this many years ago at a time of my life where unfortunately i just didn’t have a lot of time to read – but with the apple series out & me being on a bit of a gilded age kick lately, i thought it would be fun to return to this as my spring revisit 🫶🏻

absolutely loving this so far! the detail is just gorgeous

not sure how i feel about this translation just yet

i’ve been told i’ll be more inclined to enjoy this hemingway than others i’ve read so we’ll see how this goes

whoever had this copy before made all sorts of notes in it for their own decorating purposes & it is very much enhancing my reading experience

finding it difficult not to picture this all in technicolor

like percy jackson, but for grownups. same font.
