R. Bruce Magee is reading Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents
The concept is sound and the facts are plentiful and well documented. Still, it’s a slow, academic read, perhaps 80 pages longer than need be to get the point across.

R. Bruce Magee is reading Angela's Ashes (Frank McCourt, #1)
Fabulous memoir — gritty, detailed, often funny, well-written with lots of Irish cadence. In a league with “Liars Club,” “The Glass Castle, “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight,” among “The Tender Bar.” These books, among many others, are my favorite reads.

R. Bruce Magee is reading On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century
It’s not a dire warning, but rather more like a thorough advisory. In the midst of so many ongoing threats to our Republic we must take those threats seriously.
