On hold for NaNoWriMo. As if that's really going to work...

I feel pretty much the same way about Henry James as I do Brian Wilson. Either (A) people were not critical enough at the time to intervene and keep it out of the canon or (B) successive generations are too intimidated to criticize their forebears. Or - I suppose - (C) I'm going to one day get it. Since "C" is a possibility, I keep coming back to James, just like I do Pet Sounds. Let's see this time

The Wings of the Dove by Henry James: Man, this book really needs a car chase or something.

I've reaffirmed my belief that there's nothing quite as pointless as a Henry James novel. An unnecessarily large cache of words and maddening syntax does not constitute genius. Hell, I'm proof of that - as anyone who knows me will testify.
