Is it a little late to read a holiday novel? Not really given that I forgot to put up my Christmas tree for the entire month of December.

As a criminology student, I am skeptical of the accuracy of this book. PSA: there is NO GENE FOR MURDER. There are genetic dispositions that combine with social factors to create a tendency towards violence. Also, no expert says that we should test everyone for specific genes and then quarantine them. If you want to know more about the work in this field, I recommend The Anatomy of Violence by Dr. Adrian Raine.

Is anyone else really confused? Or is it because I literally don't care enough to find out what is happening?

Hahaha you know how I said I would probably not continue this series?? Well the fandom got me and people said that even if you didn't love the first book that you should continue because they get better. God I really hope so because I don't want to waste my time.

My loan from the library ended and now I'm #5 of 3 copies and this is really annoying me. I hate stopping books in the middle. Ugh.

The second hand embarrassment for Rose is so real right now. But at least they mentioned Penn! (yes Quaker Pride!) But they said that Penn was an "enormous school"... it only has 10,000 undergraduates. That is definitely not large.

Alright fine. I'll read it. I actually applaud for Mead putting a prologue that summarizes everything from the first book. It is a good way to catch up if you need to but you can skip if it you want to. But that last line "No one said high school was easy". It's just so cheesy. I can't take these books seriously but I want to read them. Dammit Mead.

Wow. I'm Rose and I'm soooooo much prettier and sexier than everyone else. I cannot deal with arrogant protagonists. How am I supposed to relate to main characters that judge other girls and slut shame?

The slut shaming in this is infuriating. My inner feminist is screaming angrily at the portrayal of women, especially with all the skinny shaming. Rose keeps going on and on about how she is the only attractive person because she has curves. I'm so done with her at this point. Also, the fact that her teacher is ogling her is creepy. It isn't sexy at all, it is creepy and wrong. Why do people romanticize this couple??

Lol I just read the quintessential YA "I'm so beautiful" passage. She is so special because she has curves and dark hair while everyone else doesn't. She is just so sexy and alluring. I totally connect with her arrogance as a character. Wow. What a role model.

Alright, everyone says this book is great, but after reading some bad reviews, I'm a little skeptical about the high school drama. I have pretty low expectations right now. Also, this whole teacher student relationship is definitely going to creep me out.

So she is on a subway train where all the lights are out (no emergency lights) but she can still perfectly describe a stranger that hands the phone to her. #littlethingsthatbotherme

Did they really just get into a car with a total stranger and then get surprised when the guy attacked them? I am not understanding Mara's stupidity right now.

That was probably the most anticlimatic kiss over. "and then he kissed me." Well alrighty then.

"We are the ghosts of sunken countries. We were once explorers when the world was full, in a past life, and now we're back from the dead." That's on page one. I'm so excited to read this.

Does anyone else think everything is so sudden in this book? She has entire revelations in one sentence two lines after she learns something. Also the obvious foreshadowing is insulting my intelligence a little.

Everyone. I'm suffering from a disease. It's called to-read-itis. Its contagious and extremely powerful. It's like an addiction. I just keep adding and adding books onto my to-read shelf and I know I won't be able to read them all but I can't stop and BLARGH. I need help man.

I really wish Goodreads had a chat area because I really just need to talk about what happened. I just can't even comprehend what I just read. This was just the weirdest plot twist ever. I guess it was good because I wasn't expecting it... But I'm just confused

Quick hint for everyone: If you are about to read a sequel to a book you haven't read in a while, check out wikipedia's plot summaries (I know Wikipedia is frowned upon, but who is going to change a book summary?). Unlike most summaries, it tells you the major plot points and the ending. You're welcome.
