I'm frustrated by all of the contemporary cozy mysteries I've been reading, so returned to the series that started it all for me, the Cat Who.... Good thing I own most of them (I did own them all, but I think I lent some out to friends...)

Calling it about 2/3 of the way through. Just wasn't interesting enough to keep me reading...

I really dislike the characters in this book; normally not liking the characters doesn't bother me, in fact I usually like that I dislike them. But these people are so awful, that I'm finding it hard to care about them at all. I can't identify with a doctor making $250,000 a year + his wife who makes "15 times that." The only thing keeping me with it is the narration, I want to see what happens there.

I will not be finishing this book! Too bad. The books in the Murder, She Wrote series under Donald Bain were really great. About a third of the way through this one by Jon Land after Bain's passing, and it is awful.

I bought this book because the library didn't have it. Published in the 80s. I read about the process of writing it in Smiley's book about "looking at the novel." Interesting so far...
