The translation of Metamorphosis in this edition is the best I’ve read. Taught it to a class and they commented on how modern it feels, without it really changing anything from the original or the translations you may already be familiar with.

Only just started but the cover to this book is easily one of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen. And I normally hate hardbacks.

So far so good. Hooked. Love SGJ’s narrative voice. Having heard some podcasts with him I now read everything in his actual voice, which suits this ‘memoir’ really well, “i guess”. Also getting a Stephen King vibe from this in the first-person, writer/teacher returning home to solve a mystery cube (even though I can’t, off the top of my head, think of a specific King book with this scenario...)

How can a book be difficult?
Second read - first time for (supposed) enjoyment. Tore through the first 100 pages in a weekend. Have hit a wall though. I like the style, the setting, the characters but good god it just goes on and on and on... I’ll take a wee break and come back to it (having read 2 books since starting this one last month).
