The first part of this book is about self image and body issues. It was really sad to hear about how some of the girls felt about there bodies and how they turned to self harm and suicide attempts to try to feel better.

The book ends after the group of friends decide to prank the whole school in memory of Alaska. They also find out that Alaska left that night because she forgot to go to her mothers grave on the anniversary of her death. This helps Colonel and Pudge be released from the labyrinth.
