Alright, so I thought this was a different book, that I was going to get some kind of jag on. And it's poetry. I can do poetry--just a little slower.

It takes time to read a book like this, because you keep going back to re-read some of the parts. Excellently resourced. I can see why some politicians and flag-wearers don't want this book in school libraries. It points out that things haven't changed all that much throughout political history.

Good for kids, but sometimes adults like to read stuff that young people in their early to mid-teens read. However, this is not one of those books.

Okay, but not particularly absorbing. More formula than anything.

I love technology and wholly embrace it, but I am not comfortable with e-books. They are convenient on the train, in waiting rooms, and supposedly cheaper. I am still in love with bindings and feels and smells.
This is an e-book and fairly written, yet I fail to continue.
I'll get there, by and by.

Perhaps not textbook quality but a well-researched, cited compilation of history from original documents and transcriptions. Zinn offers interesting tidbits, such as: ". . .About 10 percent of the white population. . . owned nearly half the wealth of the country and held as slaves one-seventh of the country's people." -- a statistic that we would think more common to current circumstances.

I nearly got half way when I just couldn't waste any more time on it. Although the history was accurate, the main character was based on a historic person, the writing degenerated into juvenile formula, and I lost interest quickly at that point. Perhaps it improved later, but I had given it a chance and was disappointed.
