I love the comparison that Stephanie made between love being less like a house that you build once and live in forever and it being more like a war that you're constantly fighting, not necessarily constantly fighting against an enemy but constantly fighting for the one that you love once you find the one that you're willing to die for.

So glad I'm finally.. FINALLY.. finishing this series. Been sitting on my shelves for years and years. Now I just need to finish all the old books on my shelves.

I'm truly not having fun with this one. I keep getting gross feelings about the wife Lily, I hate HATE cheating tropes. And Ruth is giving me the ick. And Peyote and Calamity make no sense to me, especially with their weird names (yes I play Zelda, but still). I'll give it maybe a little longer, but if it doesn't get better, it's about to be a 1 star for me.

Not me ( a car girl ) listening to the first couple pages of this book and immediately being annoyed that this man let his dog jump onto be outside of her car. I could only imagine the potential scratches from his paws on her door and the slobber on her window????

Is it actually broken or or or... Was it just the intention behind it? Or that they were present when it was built huh?

I can't decide if the whole communication trope in here is great, frustrating, angsty, annoying, confusing, or all the above.

I so want to immediately go back and reread this book when I'm done and write down / annotate all my thoughts. I have had so many thoughts while reading this book but I just can't put it down long enough to type out or write out anything. It's just so good and so entertaining. I don't care what anybody else says, I'm aware that there may be flaws, but I am blind to them at this point lol

... I really hated The Spanish Love Deception... BUT
I really liked The American Roommate Experiment... So I got my hopes up that I'd like this one. It's got such a cute premise too

I just can't do it. I can't. I think I made it this far simply cause I was binging, but now that I put it down for even 1hr, I have a visceral reaction to the thought of having to go back to it. I HATE the MMC and haven't felt that way in a while about a character.

He would judge her if she were nerdy and liked to go to conventions? Who tf is this guy? And why is she NOT RUNNING? There have been like 4 other anger inducing red flag lines from this man and I CANT STAND IT. And I hate the FMC even more for not noticing and just going along with it.

Why is HE making HER sweat??? Why does SHE have to beg for forgiveness? GEEZUS.. NO never absolutely not.

Everything else about this book is just fine, the writing, the plot, the side characters, the diversity. But this MMC/love interest is a walking RED FLAG. Making the romance disgusting and makes me want to gag.

OMGGGG and when she apologized just now he had the audacity to have a smirk for even just a second?! NO. If I saw that in real life, my brain would think "oh he thinks he won, that I fell for his act" but he was actually being super fucking rude after being called out (rightfully called out), like a fucking baby. Absolutely NOT. UGHHHHH.

....IM SORRY A SECOND TIME?!? He acts and is a complete asshole+neanderthal+arrogant prick, and has yet to truly have any redeeming qualities. And then when she CALLS HIM OUT, shes blaming herself (and her grandma is too) for being mean/stereotyping him? It's not a stereotype if he literally shows that's what he is??? And now she's apologizing because she's guilty? EXCUSE ME...? I'm SO pissed rn.

I think I gave it a good chance, more than 50%? I still really don't care about these characters, how they're feeling about each other, or their careers or the plot in its entirety. Going to dnf.

There's something so entertaining about this book. Her availability to transform herself to whatever anyone wants from her is actually relatable, I didn't know it was something not everyone did??

Rereading in hopes of finishing the original trilogy!

~DNF @ 58% I've re-picked up this book like 5 times now and can never get really far into it. It's just so boring and the main character is really annoying to me. The male love interest is also quite annoying geezus. I have no interest in their weird chemistry. And the whole backwards way of thinking of virginal women from this time frame is grating on my nerves more than anything. Ughhh. Giving up.
